An economical bathroom update

Our team were tasked with replacing a fitted bath with a walk in shower for a customer in a bathroom where the existing tiles were no longer in stock.
We discussed the various options with the client who decided to reuse the existing tiles. Whilst there is a ‘cost’ saving to be had, in our opinion it was also more beneficial to the aesthetic appearance of the bathroom to have continuity in the tile.
When you reuse ceramic tiles, they need to be as clean as possible to enable you to re-fit them to the wall afterwards. By soaking the existing tiles in a large bucket full of water, the water reacts with the adhesive and after approximately 24 hours we were able to scrape the adhesive from the back of the tiles.
